Finally, some news on Lee Junki’s new drama, Hero [히어로], which was announced last year but has remained rather quiet. The drama was first titled “Strange Heroes,” then “Unseen War,” and is now back to “Hero,” although the production indicates it is a working title.

Cast as the female lead is Cain and Abel’s spunky Han Ji-min, who plays a passionate reporter with a strong sense of responsibility who often grows furious at social irregularities. Lee Junki’s a reporter who rushes recklessly into accidents and incidents without fear; he’s also a guy “who doesn’t have much, nor does he want much.” As ordinary citizens, the reporters stand up against the inequalities between society’s masses and its very elite.

Lee Junki and Han Ji-min have both had very good luck with their last few projects; his Time of Dog and Wolf and Iljimae were both action hits, while her Cain & Abel and Yi San both enjoyed good ratings. We’ll see if that luck continues when they combine forces in this latest project.

Hero will begin filming in September when it finishes casting. The series will air on Wednesdays and Thursdays on MBC this fall.

Kim Min Jung Replaces Han Ji Min As The Female Lead of Hero. I 2009.09.21



Kim Min Jung will star in the new drama "Hero" as the main female lead opposite Lee Jun Ki. The female lead originally went to Han Ji Min, but she's dropped out because of personal problems and she's replaced by Kim Min Jung.

Kim Min Jung replaces Han Ji Min in Hero

We reported back in August that Han Ji Min was going to act as the love interest of Lee Junki in their upcoming MBC drama, Hero.
Well, that is not going to happen now as Kim Min Jung was announced on the 21st to be the replacement for Han Ji Min in the drama.

Because of personal reasons, Han Ji Min has now dropped out of the drama
and her comeback after Cain and Abel will be delayed to a later date instead through another drama/movie.
The production company have moved swiftly to secure a replacement and it was announced that it will be Kim Min Jung,
last seen in 2009 Alien Baseball Team, who takes her place.

Unlike the previous role given to Han Ji Min which would have seen her playing a reporter,
Kim Min Jung will be taking on a role of a enthusiastic police officer.

Scheduled tentatively for broadcast on 18th November after Heading to the Ground on the Wed-Thus timeslot,
Hero is the story of Korea's top reporters and ordinary citizens fighting against the society elite's abuse of power.

Dramabeans: Jung Soo-young adds comic flair to Hero

Jung Soo-young is a hoot, so news that she is joining Lee Junki’s upcoming drama Hero is a welcome one — although it does make me wonder what kind of tone the drama will strike. Jung, originally a musical actress, has been steadily making a name for herself in dramas as a scene-stealer by playing comic, quirky characters. (For instance: She was crazy Kang-ja in Fantasy Couple, bizarre Hwa-ja in Queen of Housewives, and quirky Bu-mi in City Hall. If she keeps it up, I think she’s on her way to being the next Ahn Sun-young, whom I love.)

In Hero, she is taking on another unique character, though this one is reportedly different from the ones she has portrayed in the past. Jung plays a newspaper reporter with a strong resumé and equally strong personality; she’s a pro at handling men and possesses the ability to deflate one’s ego in an instant. She works at the same paper as Lee Junki’s character, which promises to show us some “cheerful and lively team play.”

Hero also stars Kim Min-jung and Eom Ki-joon and is scheduled for a November 18 premiere.
